There are all types of magic in this world and many times I wish I had the type of magic within me that you read about or see in the movies. One of all time favorite movies is Practical Magic. I have watched this movies countless times and would love to be able to do the things I see.
Lately I have thought about and recalled many things from my early years from 19 or 20 forward.
How many times have you heard someone say "if I had it all to do again, I would ". I have asked myself this questions off and on over the years and honestly, with the exception of now dealing with this pain in the ass, cancer, I would not live my life any differently. Mainly because I believe that your past makes you what you are today and I am quite OK with who I am.
It is mainly the feelings and experiences I would like to relive. There are so many things that happened in the 60's and 70's that changed the way young people lived their lives. Being able to go back and experience those things again, but with the knowledge you have today, would be amazing and give you a whole new appreciation of the experience.
I was able to visit some friends this weekend that live in the mountains in Big Bear city. Every Saturday night during the summer they have concerts in town and we attended the concert. The band played all different types of music from the 70's, 80's and 90's, mostly rock and roll. They were pretty good, but what was surprising to me was that most all the people there were between 50-60 plus years old. Looking at these Baby Boomers enjoying the music and the beautiful surroundings was in a way like time travel for me. A lot of the men and women looked like they did some 50 years ago with the long hair and jeans and just their attitude. Of course there was wrinkles and grey hair and they moved a little slower and danced with less agility, but I think you get the picture.
One thing I remember about that time in history was the way the young people wanted change. Change in societies rules, the political issues, the dress, the music. They brought about those changes too. I have often wondered why today with so much unhappiness and displeasure with the way things are, why the baby boomers who represent about 30% of the population, don't use their numbers to bring about change again. Clearly advertising is directed for a large part at this demographic so our numbers do carry weight. Have we forgotten what it is like to not be afraid or complacent? Has time eroded the wonderful spirit that was so common in our youth. That anything was possible? That time was magic, at least to my memory, and I would love to live it again today.
What would you want to see if the magic were cast and you could see into the looking glass.

Lazy Days and Lazy Me
First of all I must applaud those ladies out there who continue to keep us entertained with their consistent posts. Cielo, Tessa, Jaz and Mona come to mind. Mona has said how she just doesn't have much to say right now and her friends were of course sympathetic, but when she posted twice quite recently I know we were all so very glad to hear from her. She tells the best stories.
As much as I enjoy visiting daily my favorite sites, I myself am not very good at keeping up on this. Even though I am having the fight of all fights with that SOB cancer, I still try to stay positive and not dwell on the negative. It really does no good, not to me or anyone else. I have been very lucky compared to most in my situation so I try and keep that in mind always.
I had a request from Tessa for more words of magic here so let's see what I can come up with.
For me magic can be found everywhere if you only look with an open mind and open heart.
Children see things magical because they have not been tainted and jaded by life and I don't mean this in a negative or bad way. Life is hard and life's lessons can be even harder on some more than others. Every time a lesson is learned it takes a little bit of the magic from you. Except for a lucky few, by the time you are grown there is not much magic left in your heart and you have all but forgotten what it's like to see fairies dancing in the starlight or the witches fly on their brooms silhouetted against a big yellow moon. Happily I have found there are many ladies and some men, in the blogging community that do believe in magic and it seems to be an integral part of their day.
Not sure what the connection is, maybe because as adults we are more guarded in sharing what is in ours hearts and minds and don't want to appear foolish. It is far easier to share anonymous words here. Whatever the reason I love the people I meet and the places I visit where the fairies continue to dance and the witches fly.
Since an early age I have always been fascinated with all things magical, occult or whatever the title.
I have a small collection of witches and would give my eye teeth to see Jaz's collection, so amazing it is. My home office houses this collection along with pictures of fairies, gypsies and anything Halloween. As much as I like diversity, if I had my way there would be 2 seasons, Spring and Fall.
These are the most magical of all the times of the year. Spring brings everything new, like a chance to begin again. Flowers everywhere and the gentle warmth of the sun after the cool, crispness of Fall.
Fall is at the top of my list though. The smells, the feel, the colors. What's not to love about glowing pumpkins, dressing for Halloween and the smell of a burning fire. After the heat of Summer what a welcome respite. Sitting by a cozy fire wrapped in a soft blanket reading a story about the life of a family of witches by Nora Roberts. Now that is magic, especially if you have an imagination. When I read I see everything described on the pages and its like I'm there. There is no form of transportation like the imagination. No destination is unreachable. The written word is not the only ticket to a magical location. Close your eyes and see. See yourself flying over the tree tops of the forest, or watching the creatures of the night come alive. Walk among the pyramids of Egypt and the temples of Rome. Live among the native americans and dance by their fires, hear their stories.
We all have the ability to practice the greatest form of magic.
Hopefully I have not bored you too much by my ramblings. I have a very unique way of looking at things.

Magic in the Memory
Magic is everywhere, all around you. It's in the sound of the wind blowing through the trees on a summer's day. It's in the things you can touch, smell and feel around you.
Where is your magic place.
The place that blurs the edges of reality and turns it to whatever you imagination can conjure.
Lately for me the magic has been in the music. I listen to the music I grew up with, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Crosby, Stills, Nash, music from the 70's. Even though 64 summers have come and gone for me, I hear this music and I am there again, 20 some years young and I can feel what I felt then. I see the trends today called boho or gypsy and that takes me back to the same place as the music. This is how I dressed but it was called hippie then. Whatever the name I have always loved that look and I still love it today. Its free and wild and different and that's what I have always been. Never one to follow the rules and even my home has its own style.
I was listening to the Led Zeppelin song "Going to California" the other day and it brought back feeling and memories so strong I wrote the following...
Remember. Remember
Some gods
of that time are still alive today and their mirror tells the same story
We are stardust, we are golden and ours hearts will always shine
So play the music that takes you back to peace, love and a beautiful place in time
Hope the magic takes you to a good place.

Words float through my mind and whisper remember, remember
music tickles my memory and brings back days of sunshine and
nights of forever
golden child living
in a time with change that came with the rising of the sun
Smiles and love in the eyes that met yours, words floated
like smoke, not really there.
Gods of that time sang for our pleasure, bringing new
meaning that life is forever
Long
flowing hair touched your pillow and flew in the wind with flowers and songs
that are etched In time Remember. Remember
The hair is still long and
music still brings pleasure, the memories come back of nights of forever
A face in the mirror asks where
have you gone, golden child of yesterday
My heart answers back I am
here, and still the same, time has taken
the beauty of youth away
My mind of today of says yes to
what I see and my heart says it doesn’t
matter. Be what you are
meant to be.
We are stardust, we are golden and ours hearts will always shine
So play the music that takes you back to peace, love and a beautiful place in time
Hope the magic takes you to a good place.
